Peter i also struggle to get loads to adulthood still early stages dont think its to do with the parents producing duff offspring i just think plecos will die for no ovious reason. once they are adults they are bomb proof!

Pete get some pictures up mate.......i still have 4 that i kept back from the batch before yours same spawn that mick had some from. this 4 are not big but are sexable, i have not fed them any cucumber and have left them to eat algie in the goldfish tank alone along with goldfish food.
i will later get a photo of them .

Rickie, i have a length of fishing line atatched to a ceramic weight( weight came with a air bubble curtain to hold it on the gravel) to this i atatched 2 small elastic bands.these are used to hold the fruit/veg in place. the other end of fishing line i have a another rubber band as a handle.on my other tank i have a pen top for a handle.
every couple of days lift out and replace with fresh veggies. i do Blanch sweat potato to break it down a little.

with skin on. its your call though, in my other tank i droped the stone in and it was striped to the stone

without looking back to the wrigler post they have to be couple of months old now. some a little older some less, i havent been seperating the babys form parents.they seam to put on alot of length early on and now starting to fill out a bit. i would like to see other people's plecs at the same age to compair growth. some people say they reach 1" in 10 weeks ( sale size) not sure if its 1" short length ? or with tail?

Mick (curviceps had some from my first batch and they were about 3/4" total length .
Cheers mick for your nice comments.

erm they were listed at about 3cm - an inch. i got there before the bidding had ended so i got the biggest and they were about an inch maybe a tad bigger. nearly all the rest were no bigger than 3cm tho.

    Hi Rob

Just wanted to ask what you fed yours when they were really young?

Mine have lost their egg sacs and are now minature versions of their parents, dont think they have left the cave as dad keeps blocking the way. When did you start feeding them and what worked for you

Nick i have found the young first graze the slime on the tank sides.granted your tank has not been set up for long so will be relativly clean.Mine loved blanched greens spinach being well accepted.realy they will suck on to anything just perhaps crush it up finer if your feeding granular foods. foods i feed

tetra prima ( dusted between fingers)
    tetra colour chip/flake
cucumber ( not at the price it is at moment)
    corget
    mushroom

blasted in water in microwave for few seconds!(Blanched)
    sweat potato
    english potato
    green french beens
frozen garden pea ( defrosted shelled and sqwidged between fingers)

    anything in the fridge realy

ps nick i had a new batch come out the cave lastnight !

i just feed the adults as normal.....dad will let them out when the time is right!

intrested in how they would feed if they are in the cave.......the egg sack will set them off to a great start.

when i had the babys still with eggsack's once the sack had almost gon i started feeding corget . i use to tip fry and water out of the tub into a net every evening dirty water went into bucket. tub refilled from parents tank return the fish! ( tub got 100% waterchange) parents tank had regular waterchanges 10% at least everyother day.....dont over do the amount you change at a time ....stability is the key.

rob, that reads as though you had taken the cave or fry out of the tank and kept them in an icecream tub or something. Is that how you kept them rob?

yea nick. look in his BN thread. he caught all the fry and stuck em in a little tubawear tub floating on the surface of his tank to keep temp. if i remember rightly think i stuck an air stone in with em. could be wrong tho.

and what was that pic the post before that nick ? can't see it.
