If you had just had some tanks custom made, are part of it was having the tanks with 20mm drilled hole would you expect the drill holes full of chips, or a nice smooth finish.

are tanks that are drilled usually chipped around the drill holes?

They have small surface chips all around them - inside and out.

So this isnt normal then?

I had some that were chipped around the holes . its always best to connect the tank connectors with a fine coat silicone so that you get a good seal

glass sometimes flakes at the start and finish its not usually a problem but if you paid a lot then you should always expect a quality finish?

It should have a smooth finish if you paid for it ,i have done about 20 so far and no problems just make sure you have a decent template and use water when drilling holes out and go slowly.
