hi there i have a larfe pair of axelrodi which are breeding often and laying eggs and looking after them for 2 days and then there are turning white but i can see embros inside so i no they are fertile is this because of metals in my water as i am not using ro i am using tap water buffered to ph 6.5 and wen eggs are layed i put methalyne blue in to help keep them fungus free i have tried to cover all angles to work this out, i definatly have a male and female thanx |

i am pretty sure if they turn white then they are no good.
it can take discus 20+ times to get it right.
mine at first ate the eggs as soon as they were layed, a few more goes at it and they kept them for a couple of days b4 eating them,a few more goes then they got them to wrigglers ,now they keep them as they should it all takes time with discus.
do you find they lay after a water change?
with mine you could set your watch with them. evey week after a water change eggs.........
good luck with them |

do you keep yours in ro water or normal tap water. they are spawning once a week but ive only had them 2 weeks and have spawned once and are cleaning cone like mad now so i rekon tonight or tommorow they will lay i am just wondering if the metals and other stuff in the normal tap water is attacking them |

it possibly could be your water, if you can use RO water then do . Discus can take a while to get it right but there are also a lot of infertile fish out there also, I have had fish in the same water and have allmost a 100% hatch rate and other fish about 5% hatch rate it can improve with time and age though |
