Hi all
I normally keep marine fish so im not to clued up about tropical, i have decided to set up a little tropical tank cos i love those little frogs youget - i added some bogwood and all this furry stuff has appeared all over it, also the water colour seems tainted. Is this because of the bogwood and is this bad for my water? |

The bogwood is best when soaked thoroughly for as long as possible - the water is tainted due to the tannins in the bogwood - harmless but unsightly (in my opinion) - will continue to make the water brown for months - but will eventually settle down. Best to do a big water change, it won't be quite so brown then. Or a few big water changes if there's no fish in it yet. |

Then again - it does give it that "natural" effect - down to personal preference really.... |

ideally boil the boggie 1st, keep doing water changes, after about a month or 2, start using floss in ya filter this helps to keep the water clear...water changes + more water changes |

is the furry stuff white? if so it will be a quite harmless fungus, but you can take the wood out and pour boiling water over it, will kill the fungus |
