yeah and they're never cheap they always seem to want silly money for them having said that it always amuses me when i see people trying to sell pacus that are already too large for all but the largest of tanks i suppose there's always a tropical pond but who would want one of those full of pacus ? |

we are very often over charged in scotland for fish and i can understand why he might believe his arro is worth money, why dont you contact the guy and explain rather than poking fun, red tails are the same but if you dont want one skip the add ,i am not sure why adds are annoying you???? pacus are a nightmare no one wants them , not even big fishkeepers like me ,even public aquaria turn them away (they do taste good apparently but i am not sure i could) |

Thanks for that post big cats,It's so rare to see a constructive post on this forum. I understand that vastly more people read than contribute to the forum but the overall impression is that it is dominated by a minority of self righteous plonkers. IMHO. |

perhaps i didnt explain myself enough, i believe the reason most people have their monster fish for sale is because they bought them thinking they wouldnt grow much when they clearly do, now, its hard to say whos to blame here but as a fishkeeper, its your responsibilty so ensure you can provide adequate conditions for your fish, assuming they WILL grow to adult size. I can say all day that fish stores should also play a part in your purphase, i.e telling you their maximum size amongst other requirements, obviously some stores will do this, but unfortunely not all. |

i'm assuming that the minority of self righteous plonkers that phill austen refers to includes me well if thats the case excuse me for being constantly being amazed at the price tag that some people attach too their fish
some people assume that because a fish is large it must be worth a lot but this isn't always the case and i'm in total agreement with woz fish shops should inform you of the needs and eventual adult size of fish but the buck does stop with the keeper if you don't know anything about a fish surely you should research it prior to buying it'll enable you to offer the fish the right size aquarium and water conditions and it'll also save you agro time and money |
