01-11-2007 16:25 by Lnrak	The pair of discus I bought nearly 3 weeks ago spawned on the 5th day of being here - just wondering how often they spawn - as a rule, (in general) as they ate the eggs on the first day. I am just putting it down to them being a young, inexperienced pair, as I was told when I bought them they had never spawned yet. They're about 10 months old. Should I expect them to spawn every couple of weeks or so, until they get it right? Thanks all.

01-11-2007 19:07 by big cats	if you let them spawn every week the female will stop growing and it will wear her out, i have never known fish to spawn that quickly after a failure it usually takes a while for her to build up again and re stock the eggs so to speak
01-11-2007 23:28 by mark770	You do get pairs that will spawn weekly when unsuccesful and this is not uncommon. I certainly agree that spawning at this age will possibly limit any growth that the female has left. I would not be surprised if the male is not actually fertile yet at this age as they mature a couple of months later (but I guess you cannot be totally accurate with the age of the pair anyway)
